TESTIMONIAL

I HAVE BEEN Dr. Regni’s patient for over 20 years.  His professional manner and concern for the patient keep me coming back.  He has been so good to me and my family over the years, and has been willing to go the extra mile for us. For example, one evening I had a dental emergency and Dr. Regni arrived at the office on his way to a wedding.  It’s the only time I’ve been treated by a dentist in a tuxedo! In another instance, my daughter, who was two hours away at college, developed an impacted wisdom tooth.  Dr. Regni waited for her to get back to Philadelphia and came back to his office at 10:00 p.m. to treat her. It’s no wonder he’s the “dentist of choice” for my family and me.

Dentistry for Children

For children, we provide checkups, teeth cleaning, and dental sealants to protect new molars from cavities, as well as hands-on instruction about brushing and flossing.

First Checkups

Parents often ask at what age they should bring their child in for a dental check-up. We like to see the kids when they are about 2 1/2 to 3 years old, unless you see a problem before that, such as black or brown spots on the teeth, no teeth, or gum sores. When they are about 3, they have most, if not all, of their baby teeth and are able to cooperate and understand. Often, we have your little ones come and watch their older brother or sister or their parent.

Dental Sealants

Dr. Gerald Regni, Jr. believes that by using sealants on their children’s teeth, parents can prevent tooth decay early on in life.

You can remove most food particles and plaque from your teeth with thorough brushing and flossing. However, there are small depressions and grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth that often get missed. Dental sealants act as a barrier, protecting the teeth against decay-causing bacteria. In other words, they help prevent dental problems before they start.

A sealant is a plastic material that is usually applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. This plastic substance bonds into the depressions and grooves of the teeth and acts as a barrier, protecting enamel by “sealing out” plaque and acids.

Sealants are painless to apply, and it takes only a few minutes to seal each tooth. We start by cleaning each tooth to be sealed, and then roughen up the surface with an acid solution so that the sealant will adhere to the tooth. The sealant is then painted onto the tooth enamel where it bonds directly to the tooth.

As long as the sealant remains intact, the tooth surface will be protected from decay. Sealants hold up well under the force of normal chewing and usually last several years before a reapplication is needed. Dr. Gerald Regni, Jr. will check the condition of the sealants during regular dental check-ups and reapply when necessary.

TESTIMONIAL

Dr. Regni is a wonderful dentist.  He has helped me conquer my fear of needles and injections. At one point in time, my phobia was so severe that I would suffer panic attacks. Dr. Regni is the only dentist I trust to help me handle my fear and perform beautiful dental work.  He is patient, kind and professional.
