Understanding the Healing Process

As the body falls into a state of ill health and disease, eliminating and removing toxins and waste from the body becomes increasingly difficult. Retained debris can lead to absorption of toxins, resulting in systemic intoxication. As the body moves toward better health through good nutrition, exercise, and health habits, healing can begin to occur. With new strength and stamina the body may begin to discard the many toxic residues that have built up over the years.

"Detox" Symptoms

This wonderful healing process is naturally initiated by the body. "However, with detoxification the patient may experience cleansing symptoms and feel worse before feeling better". Your body may have gotten used to 'low energy' foods such as sugar, coffee, or white flour products. As these foods are eliminated from the diet and other ‘high-vitality’ natural foods are introduced, you may experience "detox" symptoms such as headaches, nausea, uneasiness or fatigue. This spring cleaning which spews up a little dust will pass. These symptoms subside as your body begins to normalize at a new level of health.

During this initial phase of healing. Your vital energy begins to clean and reconstruct the internal body environment you may feel tired during this time. It is important for you to get adequate rest during this time until the body rebuilds itself.

 Retracing: Old Patterns That Resurface

During detoxification, you may experience a process called "Retracing". Retracing is a phenomenon where the body seems to go back in time and briefly re-experiences old symptoms of the past. Many researchers have written about this phenomenon.

Rather than thinking that you are "getting sick again" these old symptoms are like an unraveling of previous undesirable body patterns. For example, if you used to get skin rashes in the past and now have started on a healthier program, the body may "re-trace" by having the skin rashes reappear or get worse for a period of time as the body eliminates toxins through the skin. In general, the retracing process is a wonderful flushing of old toxins. However, wisdom and caution are to be used when embarking upon a detoxification program. Don't push the body too hard. Allow time for adequate detox. A successful cleansing program can bring about a wonderful new sense of well being after the toxins have been eliminated. It is well worth the trouble. For most people, the cleansing reactions are very tolerable and pass within a period of time.

You may see gradual changes with periodic highs and lows. This means that part of the time you may begin to feel better than you ever have, while at other limes you may feel that you are relapsing. But these 'back swings' are typical of the normal healing process. Eventually you may be able to reach a plateau of better overall health. The process depends on the severity of your condition and genetic constitution as well as your dedication to good nutrition.

Honoring The Laws Of Good Nutrition

The goal is total health and freedom from disease. Once you retrace back to health, we hope you will delight in honoring the laws of good nutrition, exercise and dietary habits. As Hippocrates the Father of Medicine, wrote in 500 B.C... "Let thy food be thy medicine, and thy medicine as thy food"
